Picket Fencing

Traditionally used for garden fencing where a boundary between areas or property needs to be indicated or a low security need is required, Picket fencing comes in various shapes and form. From inexpensive pre-made picket panels to 'built up' on site picket fencing.  It can actually be built to any height you want from low 75cm high to 1.83 cm high or taller if local planning conditions allow.

For built up Picket fencing the method is not to different from installing other fencing such as Closeboard. Posts are installed to carry rails and the then the pickets are attached. With flat, pointed and round top pickets to choose from the degree of privacy / security can be chosen by the space between the picket pales adjusted to suit your own requirements.

Picket Fencing on Durapost

Here is an example of low timber picket fencing denoting a front boundary between two properties.

This picket fence has been installed using Durapost classic enters and a Durapost end post adjacent to the footpath. which makes a tidy end.

There are two timber cant rails installed which carry the pointed top pickets.

Timber Picket fence onto existing handrail.

The above Picket fence project was completed for a local Primary School. Here timber framework has been attached to existing metal handrail and timber pickets have been machined and attached to the framework. This still allows the top rail to be access as a hand rail but the picket fence provides a barrier between the play area and the walkway.

Low round top Picket on a curve.

Above is a low round top picket fence built up on concrete spur posts with timber framework. This round top picket fence surrounds a natural pond in a garden and the requirement was to avoid timber in the ground in a constant damp area.

The curve follows the natural shape of the pond, this is done by spacing the posts accordingly to create the curve, each rail is straight but the overall effect is that the fence follows the shape of the pond. The closer the posts are together the tighter the curve achieved.

There are gates at either end and the customers bird table was affixed to the rails.
